The device is designed for temperature sensor calibration processes carried out at fixed solidification points of the following metals: aluminium, silver, gold and copper. It is highly stable, three-zone, vertical, batch furnace with a temperature range of 600–1100°C. The desired zone of uniform temperature with an accuracy of ±0.5°C over a length of at least 300 mm can be maintained through the use of a ceramic equalising pipe and a metal equalising block. The structure of the equalising block is adjusted to the size of the cell with high purity metal. The device can operate on its own in accordance with a time and temperature schedule, or can be controlled by a computer application.
